Hi! I’m Brian Haas, an Assistant Professor of Teaching at UC, Riverside. I received my PhD in Philosophy at USC in 2025, and before that, I completed a Bachelor's degree in philosophy at Reed College in Portland, Oregon.
I have broad interests in philosophy. My main areas of research are in ethics (esp. the ethics of lying, deception, and manipulation), the philosophy of law (esp. the laws of deception, consent, and self-defense), and the philosophy of language (esp. pragmatics and metasemantics). My dissertation was on deception, and my dissertation chair was Robin Jeshion.
I use he/him or they/them pronouns.
